Türkiye's latest drone Kizilelma (red apple) will take the country's defense industry to new heights, according to its manufacturer Baykar.
Speaking to Türkiye Innovation Week, organized by the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) in Istanbul, Haluk Bayraktar said the aircraft, with low detectability and hypersonic speed, is a very critical and strategic project.
The dependence on foreign countries in the defense sector is a problem, he said, adding that technologies such as Kizilelma will ensure self-sufficiency.
He further said the project is a private project being developed with support from Baykar's export revenue

The Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) Turkey exported to Djibouti was displayed for the first time at the military parade for the East African country’s 45th independence anniversary.

Bayraktar KIZILELMA, Baykar’s unmanned fighter aircraft renowned for its unprecedented achievements in global aviation history, has successfully completed a test flight focused on smart fleet autonomy. During the test conducted in Çorlu, KIZILELMA prototypes PT3 and PT5 carried out a formation flight with an autonomous combat pilot, supported by smart fleet algorithms. This marked the first time in the history of global aviation that two unmanned fighter aircraft performed a close formation flight autonomously.
Akinci Fighting UAV is being equipped with National AESA Radar, National Electronic Support Pod, National Line of Sight and Satellite Communication.
