The developer of Türkiye’s indigenous and original UCAVs, Baykar has made a major achievement. The company, which led the defense and aerospace industry in exports for the last three years, joined the country’s top 10 exporters across all sectors in 2023. This achievement marked the first time in Turkish history that a defense and aerospace company became one of the ten leading exporters.

According to the Turkish Exporters Assembly list unveiled at the Export Champions Awards at Istanbul’s Haliç Congress Center, Baykar ranked among Türkiye’s top ten exporters. The company’s award was presented by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar.

SELF-FINANCING ALL PROJECTS
Having self-financed all its projects since its founding, Baykar generated 83 percent of its revenues through exports since launching the drone R&D program in 2003. According to the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the company was the country’s top defense and aerospace exporter in 2021 and 2022. Baykars exports amounted to $661 million in 2021 and $1.2 billion in 2022.
EXPORT LEADER
Having become Türkiye’s top defense and aerospace exporter in 2023 according to the Defense Industry Agency and the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Baykar recorded $1.8 billion in exports last year. In recent years, the company generated more than 90 percent of its revenues through exports, single-handedly accounting for one third of the industry’s 2023 exports.

THE WORLD’S LARGEST UCAV EXPORTER
The world’s largest UCAV exporter, Baykar ranks 76th on the list of the world’s top 100 defense firms published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). 97.5 percent of all existing contracts of Baykar, the fastest-growing company on the SIPRI list with a revenue increase of 94 percent, consists of export agreements. To date, the company signed export deals with 33 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 UCAV and nine countries for the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV — 34 countries in total.


The Romanian Land Forces started the reception procedures for the equipment of the first Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aircraft system this week, the Ministry of Defense (MApN) announced. Once this stage is completed, estimated for late June-early July, Romanian pilots will begin their training flights.

Turkish drone magnate Baykar outperformed major companies in the defense and aerospace industry in terms of sales abroad last year, becoming the export champion of the sector, according to official data.
FGN-100-d1, the largest satellite ever built by a private Turkish company, was developed indigenously by Fergani Space and successfully launched into space, where it has now entered its designated orbit.
